戦後モダニズム建築のコンクリート打放し仕上げ
－国立西洋美術館を事例として－
本稿では、清水建設が施工した「モダニズム建築」のひとつである「国立西洋美術館」（1959年）をとりあげ、施工担当者の考え方やその背景、実際の施工がどのように行われたのか整理し、コンクリート打放しの施工と建築表現との関係について検討した。この建築の施工においては、当時の日本における技術や経験の蓄積をふまえたうえで、図面には記されていないコンクリート打放しの表情がどうあるべきかが追究された。それにより、基本設計から実施設計、施工の総ての段階の模索の結果として、この建築に固有の表現が成立した。
Research on Fair-Faced Concrete Finishes of Post-War Modern Architecture in Japan
－The National Museum of Western Art－
Constructed by Shimizu Corporation in 1959, the National Museum of Western Art is an example of modern architecture. This paper describes the relationship between the museum's fair-faced concrete finish and its architectural expression as revealed by the thoughts of the construction manager, the background behind those thoughts, and the details of the construction process at the site. During construction, the fair-faced concrete finish, which was not represented in the drawings, was manifested using existing Japanese building technology and experience. As a result of the design development, construction documentation, and construction management, the building’s characteristics were expressed.
